Dipa

Dipa is just 16 years old, yet she left her home to go to India with others in order to get a job and earn money for the family. Due to their poverty and desperation, her parents had agreed to let her go. While she was on her way to the border crossing point, Border Counselors stopped her and talked with her. Her responses were so vague and it was clear she had nothing to assure her safety. During the counseling, Asha realized that she was putting herself at risk of human-trafficking if she continued her journey. She thanked our partners for caring for her safety.

Dipa spent a night at the Emergency Transit Home and was told about a future through empowerment at the Safe Home and Training Center. She accepted the invitation where says that she felt welcome and loved at safe home, surrounded by house mothers and other daughters.

She is learning the basics of tailoring with an aim to one day own her very own tailor shop in her hometown.
