Aashaa

As most teens in our context worry about their algebra test, big semifinal game, or what to wear to the prom, Aashaa worried for the future of her family of 11 members. Both her parents worked day and night to make ends meet. Her oldest brother got married, for which her father and mother borrowed money to pay for the wedding. None of her brothers helped support the family financially, but rather asked for money to support their endeavors.

It made Aashaa angry that her brothers were taking so much without helping, so she was inspired to start looking for ways to make an income. At one point she planned to go to India for employment. She was sad about leaving, and shared her situation to one of her friends who told her about our partners and the opportunities to achieve her dreams through skill development.

Aashaa started feeling hopeful after receiving details about the program and support available. She got connected and came to the Safe Home to become a certified tailor and earn good money after setting up her own tailor shop in her village.
