Nisa

Nisa’s mother abandoned her at birth. Her father needed a mother’s guidance so he remarried, but her step-mother rejected her also. Her father ultimately gave her to her grandparents to raise.

Despite her rocky upbringing, Nisa grew up to be a happy and well adjusted girl. One day, Nisa made a friend at school who often invited her over to her house. Her friend’s mother introduced Nisa to a man who began buying her clothing and gifts. He convinced Nisa to go on a trip with him. After a six-hour bus ride, the man took Nisa to a hotel and forced himself on her.

The next day, the man told Nisa he was going to India and that she must meet him there. As Nisa was crossing the border, she was approached by our partner’s Border Counselors. Traumatized, she shared her story. Once she learned that she was not only a victim of rape, but likely a victim of trafficking, Nisa suffered tremendously.

With the help of our partner’s team, Nisa filed a case with the district court and began her recovery at our partner’s Safe Home. She was able to continue her studies and find a new hope and purpose for her life.

Thank you for saving me and giving me this new life. I am so happy to now have real friends who love and care for me”.
