Kumari

Kumari was the oldest of her siblings in a family of six. Her father had a job driving a tractor, but it didn’t bring in enough to sustain the family. To help bridge the financial gap, Kumari got a job at a local pharmacy, but it too wasn’t making ends meet. Kumari fell ill for a period of time during which she could not work at all which really put the family in a difficult position.

Kumari decided to look for work outside her community and considered going to India or abroad. She heard about our partners and the survelliance station in Sunauli so she traveled there to see if she could obtain any work. Kumari was enrolled as a Border Counselor trainee. As she learned more about our partners program at the Safe Home and Training Center, she became interested in working as a house mother at the Safe Home. Our partners also invested in training her to drive. She now can transport daughters where they need to go!
